Starting with "hair" · Hair Care Tips

Thick and glossy hair is something we all want, and we associate it with beauty and good health. The normal person has somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 hairs on their scalp, and, on average, a person loses 100 hairs each day. Losing more than this every day over a long period of time equates to a hair loss problem. These days, it’s a very common problem – one from which many men and women suffer.

What is the right way to care for hair?

What is the right way to wash my hair?

There are two steps to take proper care for your hair:

Step 1: Cleansing

We recommend washing your hair twice with shampoo. The first wash removes excess sebum and surface dirt. The second wash is about deep-cleansing and care.

Make sure your hair is thoroughly wet when you apply both your shampoo and conditioner. This is because your hair structure is closed when your hair is dry. Once your hair is really wet, begin the first wash. Hair scales will open as you wash, and your shampoo will cleanse dirt from both your hair and its follicles. With your second wash, your hair follicles will open up further, making for a deeper clean than you can achieve with the first wash. This will also make your conditioner more effective, too, because your hair will be fully prepped to properly absorb nutrients.

Step 2: Brushing

Bend over and flip your hair forward, so you can brush it from the roots. Use a bristle hair brush (particularly good for repairing dry hair) or a soft nylon hair brush (great for detangling hair, and for sensitive scalps) and brush the hair from the roots all the way to the tail ends. Next, pull your hair back and brush it from the top of the head to the tail ends.

Handy hint: When brushing your hair, use your hand to help comb your hair from the roots to the tips. This brings excess oil from your scalp to the tips of your hair, providing your hair with a natural boost of nutrients – and that coveted shine.

Why it’s important to brush your hair every day

By brushing your hair and your scalp every day, you are effectively giving your head a massage, stimulating circulation, loosening and removing dandruff, and distributing natural sebum (oil) evenly throughout the hair. Brushing with a natural-bristle brush will help remove excess sebum from your scalp – the perfect solution for those who want a bit more volume at the scalp. It also leaves hair beautifully luminous, well-conditioned and manageable to boot.

Don’t use any old brush, though: it’s essential to work with a superior brush. By brushing regularly with a wild-boar bristle brush, you can prevent dandruff and even hair loss. We recommend brushing your hair every morning. If you are washing your hair, brush it before you wash.
