Tea tree is an evergreen tree and has nothing in common with the tea bush (Camellia sinensis), but is a myrtle plant native to Australia. Of the more than 300 varieties of Melaleuca, only Melaleuca alternifolia produces the unique tea tree or tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has a cleansing and refreshing effect. It provides quick relief from insect bites and itching and helps to reduce swelling. Effective in the treatment of blemishes and spots.
